Nicole Grable

Research Associate

Nicole Grable is a social science specialist who blends over a decade of private sector expertise with nearly 15 years of work in global public health. Her career spans more than 30 countries, driven by a passion for understanding human behavior and how structural, systemic, institutional, and socio-cultural factors influence decision-making processes.

As an architect of community engagement strategies for disease outbreak response at both Save the Children and Mercy Corps, Nicole has collaborated extensively with UN agencies, governments, and international development partners to implement evidence-based approaches grounded in social science. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she spearheaded vaccine equity research across diverse contexts including Haiti, Nigeria, Iraq, Pakistan, Puerto Rico, and Colombia.

Nicole’s research portfolio extends to community-based initiatives focused on reproductive, maternal, child, and adolescent health, nutrition, livelihoods, social norms, and gender equity. Her work has also examined how climate change and conflict affect vulnerable communities. Much of this work has informed collaborative partnership with governments to institutionalize community-based governance structures and public participation programs which advocate for access to healthcare and decentralized government funding for community-based priorities.

Nicole holds a Master of Public Health in Global Health from George Washington University, complemented by dual undergraduate degrees—a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language and Literature—from Oregon State University.
